§ MAJOR DARWIN (Staffordshire, Lichfield)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether be will consider, with reference to the new Warrant, which it is understood is about to be issued with regard to the Army Ray Department, the advisability of making arrangements under this Warrant for appointing a Chief Paymaster to a suitable position at the War Office in order to represent the Army Pay Department and to bring it into closer relationship with the War Office?

CAMPBELL-BANNERMANIt is intended to employ at the War Office a member of the Army Pay Department on the staff of the Quartermaster General for the purpose of conducting the business of the personnel of the Department and of the corps of clerks; but it is not proposed to employ a Chief Paymaster on this duty.
