HC Deb 27 February 1893 vol 9 c428
MR. HANBURY

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War what is the rule as to the tenure of Directorships of Trading Companies by officers on the Active List; and whether such officers are required to inform the War Office of the fact that they undertake these extra duties?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN,) Stirling, &c.

By the Queen's Regulations an officer on full pay is forbidden to join the Directorate of any public industrial or other company without permission from the Commander-in-Chief. Each case as it arises is decided on its merits.
