HC Deb 23 February 1893 vol 9 c203
MR. H. S. FOSTER (Suffolk, Lowestoft)

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board the following question, of which I have given him private notice: What will be the scope of the inquiry of the proposed small Commission in connection with the proposed Unification of London? Will it be competent for the Commissioners to take evidence in support of the creation of a number of Municipalities for the Metropolis as in the case of Croydon and West Ham, for which Charters of Incorporation have recently been granted?

MR. H. H. FOWLER

I must thank the hon. Gentleman for notice of his question, and I can only say in reply that the terms of the Reference have not yet been finally settled; but when they have been, they will be laid before the House.

MR. H. S. FOSTER

Will the House have an opportunity of expressing any opinion upon the terms of the Reference?

MR. H. H. FOWLER

It is not usual for such a thing to be done.
