HC Deb 23 February 1893 vol 9 c162
CAPTAIN BOWLES (Middlesex, Enfield)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War if the Maxim gun received by the Enfield Royal Small Arms Factory as a pattern to work by was in every way correct with the one held at the Inspection Department as their pattern?

MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

The gun at Enfield is not there as a pattern to work from, but as a guide in the preparation for the manufacture of mountings. It is, however, in all essential particulars identical with the pattern gun in charge of the Inspection Department.
