KENNEDY (Kildare, N.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if he will state the number of regular Petty Sessions of the Donadea district, County Kildare, which failed to be held owing to the non-attendance of magistrates within the past 12 months; whether he is aware that great inconvenience has been caused to the public, especially licensed traders, during the month of October, by this non-attendance; whether he will state the names of the magistrates of the district, with the attendance of each during the above period; and whether he will take steps to prevent this injustice to the public?

MORLEY,) Newcastle-upon-TyneI am informed that the holding of Petty Sessions in this district lapsed on two occasions only, for the reason stated, during the past 12 months, and that the public was not much inconvenienced in consequence. With regard to licensed traders, it is to be observed that they do not, as a rule, attend the Sessions personally, but send their Papers as to the renewal of their licences to the clerk for signature, who retains them till a Court is formed. It would be unusual to give the information asked for in the third paragraph of question.
