HC Deb 20 February 1893 vol 8 c1859
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland whether it is a fact that Her Majesty's cruisers stationed on the Ross-shire coast for the protection of the fishing industry remain in port an undue length of time; and, if so, whether instructions will be given to the officers in charge to devote more attention to the movements of trawlers?

*SIR G. TREVELYAN

In reply to the hon. Member, I have had no complaints as to the manner in which the cruisers which are placed at the disposal of the Fishery Board by the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty perform the important duties imposed upon them. At the same time, I will ask the Fishery Board to communicate with the commanders on the necessity of watching illegal trawling.
