HC Deb 20 February 1893 vol 8 cc1872-3
MR. WHARTON (in the absence of the hon. Baronet the Member for the Wells Division of Somerset)

I beg to ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will be good enough to inform the House whether it is the intention of Her Majesty's Government to refer to the Committee, proposed to be appointed to inquire into the "wide prevalence of agricultural distress," the question of the incidence of taxation (Imperial and local) on agricultural land?

SIR W. HARCOURT

The Government do not propose to refer any special question to the Committee, or to restrict their inquiry into any remedies that may be proposed.
