Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Bill be new read a second time."—(Mr. Howell.)

asked what was the object of the Bill?

MR. HOWELL

said, it applies only to certain Societies which had laid by old-age pensions and funds for provident purposes. It was a very harmless measure, and a very useful one.

MR. JAMES LOWTHER

said, his objections had been satisfied.

MR. BONSOR (Surrey, Wimbledon)

objected to the Bill.

MR. JAMES LOWTHER

said, he would ask the hon. Member not to persist in the objection.

Motion agreed to.
