HC Deb 15 February 1893 vol 8 cc1537-8

Order for Second Reading read.

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Bill be now read a second time."—(Sir A. Rollit.)

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. ASQUITH,) Fife, E.

I do not propose to object to the Bill, because I think it will bring about a considerable improvement in the law. In Committee, however, there are several Amendments which I think ought to be inserted; and, therefore, I must retain liberty of action in regard to them. With that reserve I am strongly in favour of the Bill.

Motion agreed to.

Bill read a second time, and committed for Monday next.
