HC Deb 14 February 1893 vol 8 c1392
MAJOR RASCH (Essex, S.E.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the pay of the Metropolitan Police is stopped in order to provide a proportion of the superannuation fund; and whether a balance sheet is published for the information of those who are compelled to subscribe?

MR. ASQUITH

Under the Police Act the Police Authority is required to deduct from the pay of every constable in the Force sums at a rate not exceeding 2½ per cent. per annum on his pay, which deductions under the Act are paid to the credit of the Pension Fund. A balance sheet of the Pension Fund for the year ended March 31, 1892, was laid before Parliament on the 2nd of May last.
