MR. JOHNSTON

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he can afford any information concerning the kidnapping of the crew of a Belfast steamship, the Bawnmore, on the 21st ultimo, at Nanaimo, British Columbia; and whether any steps have been taken to punish the perpetrators of the outrage either by the Canadian or Imperial Government?

SIR E. GREY

I have telegraphed for further information, and will communicate with my hon. Friend as soon as it arrives. Full inquiry is being made.
