HC Deb 10 February 1893 vol 8 c1047
MR. SCHWANN (Manchester, N.)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he intends to bring in a Bill this Session to assimilate the Patent Laws of the United Kingdom to those of the United States of America with regard to fees and other particulars; and, if not, whether he would be disposed to introduce, at any rate, into English Patent Law the preliminary examination by experts in the Patent Office into the novelty and the validity of proposed patents which obtains (causing a great saving of time and money to inventors) in the United States?

MR. MUNDELLA

I see no prospect of introducing any measure dealing with alterations in the Patent Laws at present.
