HC Deb 29 December 1893 vol 20 c437
MR. E. H. BAYLEY

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether the War Department is using large quantities of drain pipes, patented by Mr. W. C. Tyndale, Sanitary Inspector to the Department, to the exclusion of other pipes equally good; and is Mr. Tyndale employed in supervising the drainage arrangements of barracks, including the use of his own patent pipes?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN,&c.) Stirling,

The War Department is using a certain quantity of the drain pipes patented by Mr. Tyndale, but not to the exclusion of other pipes. Mr. Tyndale is employed in advising upon and testing drainage schemes, but he is not charged with the supervision of the works nor with the decision as to what drain pipes are to be used.
