HC Deb 27 December 1893 vol 20 cc267-8
MR. BARTLEY

On behalf of the hon. Member for Preston (Mr. Hanbury), I beg to ask the Attorney General if he can state whether the effect of the change introduced by the present Government in respect to the remuneration by salary, fees, and otherwise of the Attorney and Solicitor General was, during the 12 months immediately following the change, an economy to the public or otherwise; and what was the actual remuneration at the public expense of each of these legal officers during the 12 months preceding and the 12 mouths following the alterations?

THE SOLICITOR GENERAL (Sir J. RIGBY,) Forfar

(who replied) said: I have to ask the hon. Member to postpone the question, as I am not in possession of the facts which would enable me to answer it now.

MR. BARTLEY

Can the hon. and learned Gentleman say when the Attorney General will condescend to come back?

[No answer was given.]
