MORTONI beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies whether Her Majesty's Government has obtained from the Law Officers of the Crown any opinion as to the rights to land (if any) possessed by the South Africa Chartered Company in Matabeleland, and from the concessions-of Lobengula; and whether, if so, he will lay upon the Table of the House the statement of the case submitted to-the Law Officers, together with their opinion thereon?
§ MR. S. BUXTONHer Majesty's Government have not consulted the Law Officers on the question, as it is one which does not appear to involve any difficult point of law.
