HC Deb 15 December 1893 vol 19 c1485
MAJOR RASCH (Essex, S.E.)

I beg to ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention has been called to statements recently made at public meetings in the Eastern Counties, with reference to the National Agricultural Labourers' Union, to the effect that payments from the sick benefit funds had been suspended, and that labourers who had subscribed had been in consequence forced to apply for parish relief; and whether he would appoint a Select Committee to investigate the matter?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Sir W. HARCOURT, Derby)

The hon. Member will find that the same question was asked of my predecessor on February 23, 1891. I am informed that the circumstances are the same, and I have nothing to add to the answer given on that occasion.
