HC Deb 15 December 1893 vol 19 cc1501-2
SIR R. TEMPLE (Surrey, Kingston)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for India whether it is a fact that a young officer of the 19th Hussars died at Bangalore on the 22nd of November of typhoid fever, contracted during a course of musketry at Secunderabad in the old Lancer barracks; whether these barracks have not on more than one occasion been condemned as unfit for habitation on account of their insanitary condition; and whether the Government of India will forbid their further use until their defects have been remedied?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIA (Mr. GEORGE RUSSELL, North Beds.)

The Secretary of State has no information on the subject, but will ask the Government of India for a Report.
