HC Deb 12 December 1893 vol 19 c1167
MR. J. E. ELLIS (Nottingham, Rushcliffe)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has received a resolution recently passed by the Miners' Federation of Great Britain respecting the Employers' Liability Bill; and, if so, whether he can state its purport or terms?

MR. ASQUITH

Yes, Sir. The resolution repudiated the authority of a deputation which had recently visited London and had an interview with Lord Salisbury, and which purported to speak for the Miners' Permanent Relief Society, to represent the miners, and urged the Government to resist the insertion in the Bill of any clause permitting contracting out.
