HC Deb 11 December 1893 vol 19 cc1025-6
MR. POWELL WILLIAMS (Birmingham, S.)

I beg to ask the Postmaster General whether the present contract for the supply of scales and weights to the Post Office Department, which was entered into four years ago, is determinable at six months' notice; and whether, with a view of the terms of the contract as to price, quality, and modern improvements, he will consider the desirability of putting an end to the contract and to invite fresh tenders?

MR. A. MORLEY

The contract in question came into operation on the 1st of December, 1889, and is determinable as stated by six months' notice on either side. The service is very well performed, and the prices are considered to be moderate. It is not proposed, therefore, at present to give notice to terminate the contract for the purpose of inviting fresh tenders.
