I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether any importation of foreign coal took place during the recent strike; and, if so, of what amount?

The quantity of foreign coal imported into the United Kingdom during the months of August, September, October, and November, 1893, was 15,641 tons, of which Germany furnished 1,120; Holland, 7,062; Belgium, 2,524; France, 209; New South Wales, 3,518; and the United States, 1,208.
