HC Deb 28 August 1893 vol 16 c1219
MR. A. C. MORTON (Peterborough)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether it is correct that the Middlesex Clerk of the Peace demands and obtains fees amounting to about £10 10s. for the admission of each and every Justice to the Middlesex Bench; and, if so, whether he is right in making such charges?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. ASQUITH,) Fife, E.

The Clerk of the Peace informs me that he does not demand or obtain fees amounting to £10 10s., or any such sum, on the admission of Justices. I am in correspondence with the Clerk of the Peace on the subject.
