HIBBERT,) OldhamVery great improvements in the position of Excise officers have been effected in the past three years, involving an annual increase of £50,000 in mean salaries. The Board of Inland Revenue do not admit that anything which could be properly described as a "grievance" now exists, though some modifications in the existing arrangements may be desirable. I have not received any proposal on the subject from the Board.
