HC Deb 11 August 1893 vol 16 cc16-7
MR. STRACHEY (Somerset, S.)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Agriculture whether he will try in the West of England, as he is doing in the North and East of England, the experiment of having the weather forecasts published at the post offices?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF AGRICULTURE (Mr. H. GARDNER, Essex, Saffron Walden)

I am sorry to say it is not in my power, on financial grounds, to give effect to the suggestion of my hon. Friend; but if the results of the present limited experiment are favourable, as I hope they will be, we shall have to consider whether it ought more extended scale next year. In that case we should certainly include one of the western counties in our scheme.
