HC Deb 21 April 1893 vol 11 c895
MR. WASON (Ayrshire, S.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that the range of the Rifle Volunteers at Ayr is so situated as to be a source of danger to pedestrians, and also to persons in boats in the line of fire; and whether he will take steps to inquire whether a. safer and more suitable range could not be found?

*MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

The following Report has been received from the General Officer commanding the Scottish District:— There has been no complaint whatever received by me or by authorities at Ayr regarding the range at Newton-on-Ayr, presumably referred to. It is a range firing seawards, the ground on flanks is well under observation, and it is considered a very safe range. It would be difficult for the Volunteers to provide a safer range.
