§ MR. WASON (Ayrshire, S.)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that the range of the Rifle Volunteers at Ayr is so situated as to be a source of danger to pedestrians, and also to persons in boats in the line of fire; and whether he will take steps to inquire whether a. safer and more suitable range could not be found?
§ *MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMANThe following Report has been received from the General Officer commanding the Scottish District:—
There has been no complaint whatever received by me or by authorities at Ayr regarding the range at Newton-on-Ayr, presumably referred to. It is a range firing seawards, the ground on flanks is well under observation, and it is considered a very safe range. It would be difficult for the Volunteers to provide a safer range.
