HC Deb 19 May 1892 vol 4 cc1306-7
MR. LLOYD MORGAN (Carmarthen, W.)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether, having regard to the circumstances of the repeal of the 22nd section of the Juries Act, 1870, and to the great inconvenience and expense which petit jurors have to incur, he will introduce a Bill to provide for their remuneration?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR,) Manchester, E.

The matter is receiving the attention of the Government, with every desire to recognise this as a just grievance which requires consideration. As to the amount involved as a charge on the Exchequer I cannot say, and it is impossible to deal with this matter by legislation in the course of the present Session.
