KNOX (Cavan W.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Sub-Commissioners who sat to hear land cases in Cavan last summer adjourned, leaving some 20 cases which had been listed unheard, saying that they would return in three weeks, but have not yet sat there since; whether he is aware that some cases in the district, which were entered four years ago, have not yet been heard; and whether the proper steps will be taken to have these cases disposed of?

JACKSONFrom the Report I have received from the Irish Land Commissioners it appears that the cases referred to have been already listed for hearing before a Sub-Commission which will commence its sitting at Cavan on the 16th inst. The Chairman of the Sub-Commission which sat in Cavan last year reports that he made no such statement as that attributed to him in the Question.
