SUMMERSI beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he is able to give the House any information with regard to the number of patents secured by Englishmen in the United States during the last five years, and also with regard to the number of patents in the same period that have been originally secured by Englishmen in the United States and afterwards taken out in the United Kingdom?
§ *SIR M. HICKS BEACHI understand that the number of patents issued by the United States Patent Office to citizens of the United Kingdom during the five years 1887 to 1891, was 3,394, but I have no means of furnishing the information asked for in the second part of the hon. Member's question.
