§ MR. CAREW (for Mr. CUNINGHAME GRAHAM,) Lanark, N.W.I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War what number of rifles were manufactured at the Royal Small Arms Manufactory at Enfield in the years 1884, 1885, 1886, 1887, and 1888?
§ MR. E. STANHOPEThe complete rifles and carbines turned out from Enfield were, in round numbers, in 1884, 37,000; in 1885, 66,000; in 1886, 48,000; in 1887, 45,000; and in 1888, 45,000. Owing to the large amount of other work given to the Enfield Factory the average number of men employed in 1892 will be fully equal to those employed in any of the years named.
