ARTHUR ACLAND (York, W.R., Rotherham)I beg to ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he can state when a Bill will be introduced to enable County Councils to contribute towards the expense of inquiries into parochial charities, in accordance with his communication of January last to the Conference of Joint Education Committees, under the Intermediate Education Act for Wales?
§ MR. GOSCHENI should be disposed to introduce such a Bill at once. It, however, will have to be understood 535 that the Government will not press the Bill if Amendments are brought forward for the purpose of enlarging its scope. If it is generally understood that the discussion on the Bill will be confined to this one point, I should endeavour to pass such a measure.
