§ MR. SEXTONI beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether the contract for Government work in the painting trade in Dublin is presently to be determined for a period of three years; and whether the Board of Works will take care, in framing the advertisements and conditions relating to this contract, to embody the terms laid down in the recent Resolution of this House, especially with regard to fair wages, in order to secure that the contract shall be executed in accordance with those terms?
SIR JOHN GORSTThe contract for Government work in the painting trade in Dublin referred to in the ques- 913 tion will not be made until November of the present year. The Board of Works have not yet framed the conditions of the contract, but when doing so they will not lose sight of the Resolution of the House referred to.
