Return ordered— Of the Resident Magistrates of Ireland, showing their names, ages when appointed, former vocation, districts where they now exercise jurisdiction, salaries on appointment and at present, and the tenure on which they hold office; also distinguishing those—

  1. (1.) Of the sufficiency of whose legal knowledge the Lord Lieutenant has expressed himself satisfied, within the meaning of section 11 of 'The Criminal Law and Procedure (Ireland) Act, 1887;'
  2. (2.) Of the sufficiency of whose legal knowledge the Lord Lieutenant has expressed himself satisfied, within the meaning of section 22 of 'The Prevention of Crime (Ireland) Act, 1882;'
  3. (3.) Of the sufficiency of whose legal knowledge and legal experience the Lord Chancellor has expressed himself satisfied, within the meaning of section 1 of 'The Criminal Law and Procedure (Ireland) Act, 1887' (in the same form as Parliamentary Paper, No. 83, of Session 1889)."—(Mr. John Ellis.)
