HC Deb 11 August 1892 vol 7 cc319-20
MR. M. MCCARTAN (Down, S.)

I beg to ask the Solicitor General for Ireland whether, considering that there are eighty-three district registries for the issue of writs of summons in England and only one in Ireland, he will now say if anything has yet been done for the purpose of establishing such district registries in Belfast and Cork?

THE SOLICITOR GENERAL FOR IRELAND (Mr. E. CARSON, Dublin University)

The answer to the question of the hon. Member is in the negative. The Lord Chancellor informs me he has not received any communication whatever upon the subject, and, so far as he is aware, there is no practical inconvenience from the present system.

MR. MCCARTAN

On a previous occasion when I asked a question on the subject I was informed that the Lord Chancellor was considering it. Has any consideration been given to it?

MR. CARSON

I can only say that, at an interview I had with the Lord Chancellor this morning, he gave me the information I have just given.
