HC Deb 11 April 1892 vol 3 cc1110-1
MR. FLYNN (Cork, N.)

I beg to ask the Postmaster General whether, in view of the near approach of the Easter Recess, he will consider the propriety of directing that letters addressed to Members of this House shall be re-directed to their addresses in the country?

SIR J. FERGUSSON

I presume that the hon. Member means gratuitous re-direction. I have no power to remit the usual charge to Members of Parliament; but the whole question of charges for re-direction is under consideration.

MR. MACNEILL

Will the right hon. Gentleman give instructions to the Post Office officials of the House to put our letters into large envelopes? I sometimes have to pay as much as 1s. a day for my letters.

MR. SUMMERS

I beg to ask the right hon. Gentleman if the Post Office is using the powers given to it last Session with respect to the posting of letters?

SIR J. FERGUSSON

In answer to that, I can only say that we are using the powers.
