I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War in how many and in what cases bye-laws have been made under 48 and 49 Vic, c. 36, affecting the sea or any tidal Water; in how many and in what cases the consent of the Board of Trade has been obtained to such bye-laws when public rights were affected thereby, and in how many and in what cases the consent of the Board of Trade to Such bye-laws was refused, and on what grounds?

Bye-laws have been made under the Act referred to in the cases of Shoeburyness, Lydd, Landguard Fort, Warden Point, and Hurst Castle, and the foreshore of the Wash. In every case the consent of the Board of Trade was obtained. There has been no case in which the Board of Trade has refused consent.
