HC Deb 04 April 1892 vol 3 c587
MR. MAGUIRE (Donegal, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether, having regard to the responsible and important duties discharged by the Portal Veterinary Inspectors in Ireland, he is prepared to recommend the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury to grant such a suitable superannuation allowance to these officers as is customary in other branches of the Civil Service?

MR. MADDEN

(who replied) said: The Portal Veterinary Inspectors accepted their appointments with the full knowledge that they were not entitled to either pension or gratuity on ceasing to hold office; and it is not proposed to alter the conditions of their employment.
