I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been called to the following report which appeared in the Daily News of the 20th instant:— At the Bedford Division Police Court on Saturday, a labourer named Wallinger was sentenced to three months' hard labour for stealing four mangold wurzels, value threepence; and whether he will inquire into the circumstances of the case, and consider whether some diminution of the sentence might be accorded?
