HC Deb 28 May 1891 vol 353 cc1187-8
MR. CAUSTON (Southwark, W.)

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board when the Bill postponing the County Council elections to January will he introduced?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. RITCHIE,) Tower Hamlets, St. George's

I hope to be able to introduce the Bill postponing the County Council elections in a few days, but I take the opportunity of saying that, though January was no doubt the time to which I previously stated we proposed to postpone the elections, I have received a great many representations that the month of March would be more acceptable. We, therefore, propose to put the month of March in the Bill instead of January.
