§ MR. T. W. RUSSELLI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that the Guardians of the Ballyshannon Union have this year accepted a tender for printing and advertising largely in excess of the amount which a competent local contractor offered to do the work for; and if the Local Government Board has had its attention drawn to this waste of the rates in a Union for which relief works are being claimed?
§ THE CHIEF SECRETARY FOR IRELAND (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR,) Manchester, E.I believe that the fact stated in the question is correct. The matter came at the time before the Local Government Board, who sent a warning to the Guardians.
