HAMILTON,) Middlesex, EalingThe unexpended balance at the close of 1889–90 under the head of "New Construction under the Naval Defence Act of 1889," for which provision was made in the Navy Votes, was—for materials and contract work (Vote 8, Sections 1, 2, and 3), £174,243. No portion of this sum has been expended during the present financial year.
