HC Deb 26 June 1891 vol 354 c1592
MR. S. T. EVANS (Glamorgan, Mid)

I beg to ask the Attorney General whether, having regard to Section 6 of "The Tithe Act, 1891," poor and other rates which had been assessed in respect of tithe rent-charge before the passing the Act, and which remain unpaid, are recoverable; and, if so, whether they are recoverable in the manner provided for recovery of such rates before the Act came into force?

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL (Sir R. WEBSTER,) Isle of Wight

In my opinion, poor and other rates due in respect of tithe rent-charge before the passing of the Tithe Act, 1891, can be recovered either under Section 6 of that Act or under Section 8 of the Act 7 William IV. and 1 Vict., cap. 69.
