HC Deb 26 June 1891 vol 354 cc1593-4
MR. BUCHANAN (Edinburgh, W.)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can give the House any information on this subject?

SIR J. FERGUSSON

The Acting British Consul at Tabreez has been sent to Sonjboulak to inquire into the case of an English girl, who is stated to have been abducted by a Persian Kurd and carried into Turkish territory, from which, by the aid of the Turkish Authorities, she has been brought back to the Turkish Consulate at Sonjboulak. The Acting Consul is accompanied by a Persian escort provided by order of the Shah, and also by the Turkish Consul General at Tabreez.
