HC Deb 22 June 1891 vol 354 c1057
MR. FRASER-MACKINTOSH (Inverness-shire)

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether such divergence of views has arisen among the Chief Officers of Justice in Inverness-shire, namely, the Sheriff Depute, on the one hand, and the Sheriff Clerk, Procurator Fiscal, and Chief Constable, on the other, as to involve incriminative reference by the first mentioned to the Secretary for Scotland; whether he feels at liberty to indicate the nature of these differences; and whether he can give assurance that he has taken, or will take, all steps open to him, to ensure that the carrying out of justice, law, and order in Inverness-shire be not in any way prejudiced or hampered?

*MR. J. P. B. ROBERTSON

Certain differences of opinion have arisen between the Sheriff of Inverness-shire and some of the county officials, but I do not think it would be for the public interest for me to indicate the nature of those differences. There is no reason to fear that the carrying out of justice, law, and order will be in any way prejudiced or hampered.
