HC Deb 22 June 1891 vol 354 cc1066-7
MR. SYDNEY GEDGE

I beg to ask the Attorney General whether, when in an action or question between the Crown and any of Her Majesty's subjects, in which judgment is for the Crown with costs, the fees paid to the Law Officers or other counsel appearing for the Crown are reduced upon taxation between party and party, the amounts dis- allowed are returned by the counsel or paid by the Treasury?

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL (Sir R. WEBSTER,) Isle of Wight

In the event of the very exceptional case arising which is referred to in the hon. Member's question, the fees would be paid by the Treasury.
