HC Deb 12 June 1891 vol 354 cc291-2
MR. M'CARTAN

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, with reference to the new arrangements for impressing stamps at the Inland Revenue Office, Belfast, whether, considering the convenience of having deeds and memorials for registering same stamped at Belfast, he will see that provision is made there for impressing stamps on parchment as well as on paper?

THE SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Mr. JACKSON,) Leeds, N.

The impressing of stamps on parchment at Belfast would entail some expense to the Revenue, being of such a nature that it could not be performed by the clerks. The Board of Inland Revenue, however, are anxious to afford the facilities asked for, and will endeavour to make arrangements to give effect to the hon. Member's wishes.
