HC Deb 08 June 1891 vol 353 c1825
MR. STANLEY LEIGHTON (Shropshire, Oswestry)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether, in view of the importance of the appeals which are brought from the Colonies to the Privy Council, Her Majesty's Government will favourably consider the expediency of placing upon the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council some members who have held the office of Judge in the Colonies, as contemplated by 3 and 4 Will. 4, c. 41, s. 30?

MR. W. H. SMITH

The question is one that has for some time past been under the consideration of the Government, who have been favourably disposed towards it. We entertain the hope that we may be able to avail ourselves of the services of some representatives of the Colonies on the Judicial Committee.
