TUITE (Westmeath, N.)I beg to ask the Attorney General for Ireland whether he has received a copy of a Resolution adopted by the Grand Jury of Westmeath, re-questing that the prison at Mullingar be re-established as a major prison; and, if so, can he now state the decision of the Government on the matter?
§ THE ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR IRELAND (Mr. MADDEN, Dublin University)The Resolution mentioned was duly received and acknowledged. The Government would not feel justified in incurring the increased public expenditure which the proposal in regard to Mullingar Prison would involve.
