I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he can now state the terms of the Reference to the proposed Commission on Redemption of Tithe Rent-Charge and the names of the Commissioners?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADE (Sir M. HICKS BEACH, Bristol, W.)

The terms of the Reference are as follows: To inquire to what extent, on what terms, and at what cost tithe rent-charge in England and Wales has been redeemed under the Tithe Commutation Act, 1836, and the Acts amending the same; and to report whether, having regard to existing circumstances, any and what Amendments of the law or the practice are required to encourage and facilitate the redemption of tithe rent-charge. The Commissioners will be—Lord Basing, Right Hon. George Cubitt, M.P.; Right Hon. Henry H. Fowler, M.P.; Sir Henry Hussey Vivian, Bart., M.P.; Mr. William James Beadel, M.P.; Mr. Frederick Meadows White, Q.C.; Mr. C. N. Dalton. Mr. Graham, who has had considerable experience in the office of the Land Commissioners, will act as Secretary.
