HC Deb 27 January 1891 vol 349 c1195

Order read, for resuming Adjourned Debate on Question [4th December] "That the Bill be now read a second time."

Question again proposed.

Debate resumed.

(6.58.) THE ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR IRELAND (Mr. MADDEN, Dublin University)

This Bill was moved last Session, and my right hon. Friend the Chief Secretary said he had no objection to the Second Reading. I do not oppose it on the present occasion, but I hope the Committee stage will not be taken for some time, in order that the Government may consider whether any, and if so, what, Amendments are necessary.

DR. TANNER (Cork Co., Mid)

I wish to meet the wishes of the right hon. and learned Gentleman, and will put the Bill down for a day that will suit everybody.

MR. SEXTON (Belfast, W.)

I suggest it should be put down for Monday, and then the most convenient day fixed for the Committee stage.

Question put, and agreed to.

Bill read a second time, and committed for Monday next.
