§ COLONEL HUGHES (Woolwich)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the proposed Orders as to burials in the churchyard at St. Nicholas, Plumstead, are now in operation; and, if not, what is the cause of the delay?
§ MR. MATTHEWSThe Order of the Secretary of State under 15 and 16 Vic., c. 85, is now ready, and will be issued at once. The alteration of the Order in Council of 1859 is awaiting the next meeting of the Privy Council for confirmation. The delay since the Report of the Inspector, upon which I acted, and which was made in November last, has arisen from various applications from the Church wardens, the Vicar, the Plumstead Board of Works, and others, which had to be taken into consideration before the Orders could be finally settled.
