HC Deb 12 February 1891 vol 350 c475
MR.MORROGH (Cork Co., S.E.)

I beg to ask the Postmaster General if his attention has been called to the inconvenience and delay caused in the delivery of the mails to the inhabitants of the South-Eastern Postal Districts served by runners from Kinsale and Carrigaline; and if he could not substitute one post-car for the present system of three runners?

THE POSTMASTER GENERAL (Mr. RAIKES, Cambridge University)

It is not quite clear to what district the hon. Member refers; but if it is the district of Ballyfeard to which the question applies I have to state that the post to that district is now maintained at fairly convenient hours from Kinsale. The question of substituting for this service a mail car from Carrigaline viâ Minane Bridge has been carefully considered, but the additional expense involved precludes me from sanctioning such an arrangement. I shall be glad to have further inquiry made in the matter, if the hon. Member will give fuller particulars.
